A compound sentence is a sentence that contains two independent ideas or thoughts. There are many ways to join these two ideas, but one of the most common ways is by using FANBOYS: F(or), A(nd), N(or), B(ut), O(r), Y(et), S(o). This worksheet gives students practice creating compound sentences using FANBOYS. This worksheet can be used as a companion exercise with the Recognizing Coordinate Conjunction worksheet or alone.
